Update On My New Year’s Resolution
Statistics show that somewhere in the ballpark of 97% of New Year’s resolutions won’t be kept. Well, it’s the end of January, and I am still stickin’ with mine – as shared in my post “My New Years Resolution: Befriend The Kitties” Here is what I have done to be one of the 3% that keep their New Year’s Resolution.

The Kitties - AKA The Callenges: Cheddar & Cannoli

Effort #1: Calm, Sweet, & Submissive

Cannoli's "Prairie Dog"
But after Cannoli decided to “Prairie Dog” (that’s when she gets on her hind legs and growls) I decided that I needed to try something new…
My next effort was to take them something that means a lot to me – a toy! I took it to Cannoli and put it on the floor in front of her and backed away. When she Prairie Dog’d I thought maybe she is one of those girls that likes chocolate over material items. Now I can’t eat chocolate, so I didn’t want to carry it around, therefore I went for the next best option – at least I thought – I took her my favorite bone. She ran away, took the high ground and growled at me.
My next attempt was just sitting in front of them. That didn’t work either, Cheddar hissed and took swipes at my nose. That is when I learned what a bark was and how to use my barker. **ARF!**
Then 2 weeks ago it hit me… I want to play, they want to feel loved – so I combined the 2 thoughts and made a game called “Lick the Kitty.” This is where the kitties are held and I get to lick their heads. I liked it, they didn’t…

Shopping for the Kitties...
So, now onto today. I saw some good cat toys at Petsmart. Mom said I can get one for each of them or I can just chase them and show them who is boss – afterall I am in my Senority Classification developmental stage. I am not sure what to do .. feel free to leave me any words of advice!

My New Year’s Resolution: Befriend the Kitties
My New Year’s Resolution is to befriend my kitty siblings. They have started coming around, but there is a lot of work before they are willing to give up control of the house. Today Dad and I played a game called “Lick the Kitty.” Cannoli didn’t appreciate it, so afterward, I let her know I was sorry – through the door so she wouldn’t run away or get me. I I think she is coming around, somewhat. She still likes to stare at me, which sometimes upsets me, but it’s better than it was when I first come home. I will keep trying. C’mon, how can she not love this face? I have the puppy dog eyes going for me and all!

My First Christmas

Today was my first Christmas. Aunt Shelly, Mom, Dad, Cheddar, Cannoli and I were all good, because Santa came… I got a harness – red to match my red and white Hawaiian leash – and white chocolate covered bones (doggie friendly, Mom says I can’t eat real chocolate). For Christmas Dad got Mom a lot of doggie stuff too from REI - a doggie bag for my stuff, a red dog pack for me, a collapsible water bowl, and more. Cheddar and Cannoli had a good Christmas too. Cannoli got catnip toys and Cheddar got a new blue mouse – he loves them according to Mom and Dad.
It was really warm today, so after presents we went for a nature walk in a part of the yard I haven’t been to before. It was lots of fun. There were lots of new trees, leaves, and rocks for me to climb on – even a little waterway! After that we went for a long walk through the community and I made friends Rocky a Wolf Hound/Terrier mix. He was a lot bigger than me, but was really calm. I can add him to the list of other dogs in the community I am friends with – Lady the Greyhound and Pepper the Black Lab. There are others, but they haven’t said “Hi” officially. One day, though…
After a L-O-N-G day, I took an extra long nap in my crate with one of my Christmas bones. It was a great day…
